My favorite photo that I took during my trip to Europe: Prague at nighttime! I truly miss this beautiful city and I still cannot believe that my own two eyes laid upon this gem of a city.

I’m often asked what am I going to do in Prague and in all honesty, nothing. I truly have no idea what I’m going to do when I get there. I don’t speak Czech, knows so little about the history of the Czech Republic, don’t know anyone there, and I really have no proper itinerary. I’m not even sure if I can make it to Vienna!

This is just one of those days when I say, “Screw everything, I’m going to Europe!” Let’s see what adventure unfolds. Everything goes and there’s no holding back.

The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case.

So I was doing a quick drawing of the Ninth Doctor and then the app I was using crashed and when I opened it again, it deleted a portion of the layer I was working on (that square patch). I tried everything from duplicating the artwork itself, duplicating the layer, turning the layer on/off and then duplicating it but nothing… And then I was like, “Screw it. I’m done.”
Oh well, I guess hurray for artistic weirdness! ANYTHING CAN BE ART!
